    1. Possess an offer of employment from a Canadian employer or must have a Canadian qualification certificate allotted by a province or territory within the country.
    2. Demonstrate at least two years of full-time experience in the specific trade within five years prior to applying
    3. Meet English/French language proficiency requirements
    4. Score at least 65 points on the selection grid
    5. Provide proof of funds if needed
    6. Possess skills and training that are related to an occupation listed in Canada’s National Occupational Classification
    7. Demonstrate that they will be able to become economically established in Canada

    Federal Skilled Trades Program – Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Possess at least 2 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in a qualifying skilled trade within the 5 years before their application;
    • Obtain your Certificate of Qualification or other proof of qualification from a province or territory;
    • Be able to speak English and/or French at Canadian Language Benchmark level 5 or higher;
    • Have a plan to settle in a province or territory other than Quebec; and
    • Meet the minimum requirements of the profession as set by the relevant provincial or territorial authority.

    How much are the Fees?

    The fees associated with the program are $550 and a Right of Permanent Residence Fee amounting to $500. Moreover, applicants are also required to cover the costs related with language testing fees, educational credential assessment fees, and other applicable expenses pertinent to the application for permanent residency.

    The occupations eligible under this program are organized into six major categories under the National Occupational Classification system:

    • Industrial, Electrical, and Construction Trades
    • Maintenance and Equipment Operation Trades
    • Supervisors and Technical Occupations in Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Related Production
    • Processing, Manufacturing, and Utilities Supervisors and Central Control Operators
    • Chefs and Cooks
    • Other Trades and Related Occupations.
